Understanding Seizures

Often occur in clusters with sudden bending forward of the body with arms and legs extending outward (like a "jackknife")

Sudden muscle stiffening; may fall without warning

Localized twitching, unusual sensations like tingling, déjà vu, or strange smells, preserved awareness.

Sudden jerking movements usually in arms or legs, no loss of consciousness.

Loss of consciousness, body stiffening, jerking movements, possible loss of bladder control, confusion after seizure.

Staring blankly, subtle body movements like eye blinking or lip smacking, unresponsiveness lasting minutes to a few seconds

Sudden floppy head or drooping limbs, collapse or falling, brief loss of muscle control.
