Myoclonic Seizure

Seizures characterized by sudden brief jerks or twitches of muscles or muscle groups.

What you may see: 

  • Brief, sudden jerking of the arms, legs, or whole body 

  • May cause your child to drop things or fall 

  • Often occur in clusters, especially in the morning 

  • Child usually remains conscious 

How to help:

  • Speak gently and reassure your child that they are safe

  • Allow them to rest or sleep if they need to Stay with them until they are fully oriented to person, place, and time

  • Do not offer food or drink until your child is fully awake and alert
